Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 31, 2026

Ringu is a place to create, share, and discover short-form media, photos, stories, live interactions, messages, and communities. These Community Guidelines explain what is and is not allowed on Ringu and how we may respond when content, accounts, or behavior create safety, integrity, or legal risks.

These guidelines apply to everyone who uses Ringu and to all content and conduct on the service, including usernames, profiles, posts, captions, comments, direct messages, live streams, audio, creative tools, ads, commerce features, and off-platform behavior where it creates a credible risk of harm on Ringu.

Our goal is to support creativity and expression while protecting people from serious harm, exploitation, deception, and abuse. We may take context into account, including newsworthiness, public interest, educational framing, artistic expression, or efforts to condemn harmful conduct, but context does not guarantee that content will remain available.

1. How to Read These Guidelines

Ringu may take different actions depending on the severity, context, reach, and repetition of a violation. We may:

  • remove content;
  • block uploads or features;
  • reduce distribution or recommendations;
  • add labels, interstitials, or age gates;
  • limit account reach or monetization;
  • suspend or permanently disable accounts;
  • report threats to law enforcement or child-safety organizations where required or appropriate.

Some content may be allowed on Ringu generally but not eligible for broad distribution, prominent recommendation, monetization, or youth-facing surfaces.

2. Safety and Violent Conduct

We do not allow content or behavior that threatens, celebrates, promotes, or facilitates serious physical harm.

This includes:

  • credible threats of violence;
  • encouragement or glorification of assault, murder, torture, kidnapping, or other severe harm;
  • instructions for violent wrongdoing, weapon use for criminal purposes, or evading law enforcement;
  • praise, support, or recruitment for terrorist, extremist, or violent criminal organizations;
  • graphic violence posted to shock, celebrate harm, or target victims.

We may allow limited contextual content such as documentation, counterspeech, news reporting, or warnings when it serves a clear public-interest or safety purpose, but we may still label, blur, restrict, or age-gate it.

3. Child Safety and Exploitation

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material, grooming, sexualization of minors, or any exploitation of children.

We prohibit:

  • child sexual abuse material or links to it;
  • grooming, enticement, sextortion, or predatory contact involving minors;
  • sexualized comments, requests, or roleplay involving minors;
  • content that endangers children physically or emotionally;
  • attempts to obtain, share, trade, or advertise exploitative material.

We may immediately remove content, disable accounts, preserve evidence, and make reports to relevant authorities or safety hotlines.

4. Harassment, Bullying, and Hateful Conduct

Ringu does not allow abusive behavior that targets people with the goal or effect of humiliating, intimidating, excluding, or dehumanizing them.

We prohibit:

  • hate speech or hateful conduct directed at protected characteristics, including race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, immigration status, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease;
  • slurs, degrading stereotypes, or claims of inferiority;
  • harassment, bullying, stalking, dogpiling, doxing, blackmail, or threats;
  • sexual harassment or unwanted sexualized targeting;
  • mocking or targeting private individuals after tragedy, trauma, or vulnerability.

Critical discussion, debate, satire, and commentary may be allowed, but not when they cross into severe abuse or targeted dehumanization.

5. Suicide, Self-Harm, and Dangerous Acts

We remove content that promotes, instructs, or encourages suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, or dangerous activities likely to cause serious injury.

We may allow recovery-focused, educational, or prevention-oriented discussion, but we may provide support resources, warnings, or age-based restrictions.

We also prohibit:

  • dangerous challenges, dares, or stunts;
  • content encouraging risky substance misuse;
  • instructions for self-injury or concealment of self-harm.

6. Sexual Content and Nudity

Ringu is not a service for pornography or sexual exploitation.

We prohibit:

  • explicit sexual activity or graphic sexual nudity;
  • sexual solicitation, sexual services, or exploitative fetish content;
  • non-consensual intimate imagery, threats to share it, or voyeuristic content;
  • sexualized content involving minors or age-ambiguous young-looking people.

We may restrict some mature or suggestive content even where it does not meet the threshold for removal, especially in surfaces that reach broad or younger audiences.

7. Illegal Activity, Regulated Goods, and Fraud

You may not use Ringu to facilitate or promote illegal, deceptive, or harmful commercial conduct.

We prohibit:

  • frauds, scams, phishing, impersonation for financial gain, or deceptive schemes;
  • buying, selling, or facilitating illegal drugs, weapons, or human exploitation;
  • promotion of dangerous counterfeit goods or falsified documents;
  • instructions for theft, hacking, or other criminal acts;
  • unlawful gambling or other illegal regulated services.

Some regulated goods or services may be further restricted or allowed only in limited contexts with additional age, geography, disclosure, or business requirements.

8. Integrity, Authenticity, and Spam

Ringu depends on people being able to trust what and who they encounter.

We prohibit:

  • impersonation or deceptive identity claims;
  • coordinated inauthentic behavior or fake account networks;
  • spam, repetitive posting, unwanted bulk outreach, or engagement bait;
  • buying or selling followers, likes, comments, views, or other fake engagement;
  • malicious manipulation of recommendations, search, reporting, or safety systems;
  • materially deceptive edited, synthetic, or AI-generated media where labeling is required.

We may require labels or disclosures for realistic synthetic media, branded content, paid promotions, or other contexts where transparency is important.

9. Privacy and Personal Information

We do not allow content that exposes or abuses sensitive personal information.

This includes:

  • posting private contact details, identification numbers, financial information, or location data without permission;
  • threatening to expose private information;
  • sharing intimate or sensitive recordings made without consent;
  • content that enables stalking, swatting, identity theft, or targeted fraud.

You must respect the privacy and safety of other people, even if information is available elsewhere.

10. Intellectual Property and Originality

Do not post content that infringes copyright, trademark, publicity, or other legal rights.

You must also avoid:

  • reposting or mass-uploading unoriginal content in ways that mislead users or undermine creator attribution;
  • using another person's brand, likeness, or work in deceptive or unauthorized ways;
  • evading rights-enforcement measures after previous removals.

Our Intellectual Property Policy explains how to report alleged infringement.

11. Youth Experience and Recommendation Eligibility

Some content may be inappropriate for younger people or for broad discovery surfaces even if it is not removed entirely.

Ringu may age-restrict or make ineligible for recommendation content that:

  • contains mature themes, frightening imagery, or strong language;
  • depicts risky but non-illegal conduct;
  • discusses sensitive health, body-image, or distress topics without exploitative intent;
  • is excessively spammy, low-quality, duplicative, or misleading.

Recommendation systems, search, discovery surfaces, and monetization features may apply stricter standards than basic hosting availability.

12. Enforcement

Ringu uses a mix of automated detection, human review, trusted escalations, and user reports to enforce these guidelines.

When enforcing these rules, we may consider:

  • severity and likelihood of harm;
  • whether the behavior is isolated or repeated;
  • the age of affected people;
  • user intent and context;
  • whether the account is attempting to evade earlier enforcement.

If appropriate, we may warn you, require additional verification, remove content, restrict features, reduce visibility, or disable your account. Serious or repeated violations can lead to permanent removal.

13. Reporting and Appeals

If you see content or behavior that may violate these guidelines, you can report it using the tools we provide.

If we take action on your content or account, we may notify you through the service, by email, or by other reasonable means. Where available, you may be able to request a review or submit an appeal.

Abuse of reporting or appeals systems may itself lead to enforcement.

14. Changes to These Guidelines

Ringu may update these Community Guidelines over time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, emerging harms, and enforcement learnings. When we make material changes, we may provide notice through the service or by other reasonable means.
